Peaceful Transfer of Power? The inauguration through the eyes of LEOs.
On January 20, 2017, a new president of the United States of America took the oath of office. There was no coup d’etat, he was elected pursuant to the law and legal process. The parade and other events proceeded smoothly without incident.
Like most events that occur, the experience of LEOs was different. A few blocks away from the inauguration festivities, LEOs were pelted with bottles, homemade explosive devices, and other objects. They were threatened, attacked, and forced to arrest hundreds of people as vehicles burned in the streets. These were not protesters-they were rioters and perhaps anarchists. Who supported them? Who organized them? Who is defending them!
The city, visitors to the Capitol, and the law-abiding residents of Washington DC relied upon these LEOs to protect them, preserve property, and keep the peace. For that LEOs deserve respect and they need your prayers. Stay safe.
